I am so excited to share some really sweet moments from a recent engagement session at Marian Bear Park.  Leah & Grant are so adorable. I just love how they exude happiness when they are together! For this engagement session, we really wanted to capture some beautiful romantic moments, while still incorporating the ethereal beauty of the San Diego wilderness. I absolutely love how these engagement photos turned out! Enjoy the images from this early spring engagement session!

The Love Story

Leah & Grant met through church when they were very young, but it took them a while to work up enough courage to talk to each other. Eventually they began to talk, and realized they both liked each other (with the help of some amazing friends, of course!).

These two lovebirds have been together for quite a while, and Grant really put an amazing proposal together for Leah- on top of a mountain in New Zealand. Leah wanted him to pop the question, and was hoping he would pick the New Zealand trip to ask, but could find no sign of the ring- despite searching Grant’s luggage before they actually left on the trip.

Getting a ring through customs all the way to New Zealand, without Leah finding out, proved to be rather difficult. At one point he had to quietly declare the item to a customs officer, and, luckily, Leah didn’t catch on!

After a nice hike to the top of the mountain, Grant handed Leah a postcard from the mountain top with a special message written on the back. He asked her to be his wife, and after a moment of pure surprise, Leah was happy to say yes!

The Engagement Session

Spring is really the perfect time to have an engagement session in San Diego- especially at the park. The flowers are all just beginning to bloom, and the weather isn’t too hot or too cold. Everything is just right.

Leah had so many great ideas going into the engagement. Leah chose the location, because she really liked the look of engagement photos in the wilderness. Leah & Grant looked at a few different locations, reviewed recommendations, and decided on Marian Bear Park for their engagement shoot location. I hadn’t been to this particular location since winter, and arrived early to scope out the best spots for photos, so that we could really get the most out of their engagement session time.

They wanted to include the guitar because music is one of the things that brought them together in the very beginning- when Leah would see Grant playing the guitar and singing at their church & while they were hanging out with mutual friends. Leah & Grant also wanted to include their furry family member- Shrek the bulldog! Shrek is possibly the most handsome pooch I have ever met.

We had such a great time walking around the park, getting some awesome engagement photos.  Stay tuned for more of this gorgeous couple- we are honored & excited to be photographing their wedding this fall! Congratulations Leah & Grant!
