Photographing a marriage proposal is one of my favorite things to do. I love seeing the genuine joy & surprise. Hearing the story of how they met and all the planning that went into keeping everything a secret is just so fun. When Zach reached out asking me if I would photograph him proposing to Emily, I was so excited to help.

Zach planned to asked Emily to marry him in front of the chapel on the campus of the University of Dayton where they first met. He set up a fun afternoon date, taking her on a walk around campus. Just minutes before he was scheduled to arrive at the chapel to pop the question, a wedding inside the chapel ended and guests poured outside, crowding the area where he planned to propose. As I watched them arrive from a nearby bench, he motioned for me to head to the garden on the side of the chapel, away from the crowd. He got down on one knee and Emily was so surprised and excited- of course she said yes.

Then we set out around campus to document their excitement and get a few photos of them together at some of their favorite places from college. It was so much fun getting to hear all the details of how Zach pulled off his plan. Here is a quick look at how things went down at this University of Dayton proposal photo session.
